The company was founded by Aldo Santoro and Aldo D’Amico who worked long hours in a borrowed garage in the evenings after work making burglar guards, plant stands and railings.
Italia Engineering opened the doors of its first premises in Greyling Street in November 1968. They continued to manufacture their existing products as well as running a machine shop.
Aldo D’Amico left the business in approximately 1975 and in 1979 Italia Engineering started to manufacture damscoops and graders.
Aldo’s sons, Dino and Lucio joined the family business in January 1993 and continued to expand the product range to include the Italspreader and Italfeeder.
The company moved to Pentrich Road in February 1998 where they continued to develop and expand on the Italia range. By September 2019, they had outgrown the space and Italia Engineering moved to it’s current location in White Road. Here they continue to manufacture durable agricultural equipment and trailers designed in South Africa to meet the unique demands of Southern Africa.
